Good News Rescue Mission

Good News Rescue MissionThe Good News Rescue Mission has been serving the homeless in Redding for 50 years. They provide temporary shelter, three meals a day, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, job training, transitional housing, assistance for the mentally ill, as well as many other services for the homeless and needy in our community. However, the most fantastic thing about the help the Mission brings to the community is that they do all of these things in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Every area of ministry directs those that are hurting and in need to look to Jesus as the answer.

We are so blessed and excited to be able to be a part of serving with the team at the Good News Rescue Mission!

Our Little Country Church team is serving at the Mission in two different areas:

Kitchen Service: Most nights of the week the guests of the Mission form a long line and wait to be served dinner. The people being served walk, sometimes for miles, to get there and then stand in line and wait to be served. We are so blessed to be able to provide one night each month where they can sit at tables and be served dinner. We each take a tray or two through the service line and then serve the meal to someone who is seated, until everyone is served. This is a very simple thing to do, but we are amazed at what a blessing it is to those we are serving. We are able, in this simple way, to show them that we love them and to bring them a sense of dignity.

Chapel Service: There is a chapel service held at the Mission every day of the week. We are so excited to be able to provide the chapel service one day each month( The Third Tuesday). We lead a full service consisting of worship music, personal testimony, an object lesson, teaching from the Bible, and prayer ministry after the service. We take the responsibility and privilege of providing this service very seriously. This may be the day of salvation for someone who is listening, and we are so blessed to be a part of this ministry.

Do you want to be a part of this great ministry?

Are you able to carry trays and serve food? Do you sing beautifully to the Lord? Do you play an instrument? Do you have a testimony to share? Has God gifted you to share His Word? Do you love to pray for those in need?

If you answered yes to any of these questions and would like to volunteer, we would love to talk to you about joining our ministry team. Just give your contact information to Pastor Rick at the Church office and we will contact you.
